Kina are found on almost all of our rocky coast lines around New Zealand, using Kina as burly can be very effective against snapper and other species. Kina is commercially collected by freedivers for its roe.Certain times of the year will produce better tasting eggs, this is usually from October forward.
Kina have lots of spikes which protect them from predators, be careful when handling as the spikes can penetrate your skin.
